Thomas Arthur Lindgren, Springfield, passed away Friday Feb. 3 from ca ncer at home surrounded by his loving family.

Tom and his fraternal twin brother, Henry, were born February 15, 195 2 in Great Falls, Montana to George and Gertrude (Rooney) Lindgren. H e was raised in Great Falls. He received degrees in chemistry; a B.S . from Montana State University in 1974 and a M.S from the Universit y of Notre Dame in 1975. After receiving his Master's degree he joine d Ford Motor Company in Detroit where he worked as a chemist in produc t development. Tom later received an M.B.A. from Wayne State Universit y in 1992 and a M.S. in Manufacturing Engineering from Polytechnic Uni versity, Brooklyn in 1997. He earned a masters degree in accounting a t Missouri State University in 2001. He graduated from Cox College o f Nursing and Health Sciences in 2009 and became a registered nurse.

While working in Detroit at Ford he met Norma Wright in 1993 who owne d a coffee shop. They were married in 1997 and settled in Springfield , MO. Tom did temp work at H&R Block, the Assemblies of God headquarte rs, at the census bureau, and was active as a volunteer at the Staine d Glass Theatre. He was a substitute teacher at Springfield Public sch ools and tutored at MSU. He was the accountant at their church (Centra l Assembly of God) for 3 years. He worked at University Plaza Hotel an d Convention Center until his death. The family is very appreciative t o the managers and associates at the hotel for their kindness and cons ideration during Tom's illness.

Tom and Norma were very active in the Assemblies of God church. Norm a has worked at the A/G Headquarters since moving to Springfield in 19 95. Tom was active in the church's as a Royal Rangers Commander, usher , greeter, and JBQ coach (with his wife). Their faith and support fro m members of the congregation gave them strength through this difficul t time.

Tom is survived by Norma, his wife of 14 years; step-daughters Kathy S exton, Angela Millage and step-son Christopher Wright, 7 grandchildre n and 1 great-grandson, his sister Marilyn Lindgren of Austin, Texas ; his brothers and their spouses, Douglas Lindgren (Kathy) of Austin , Henry Lindgren (Nancy) of Billings, Montana, and Frank Lindgren of P hiladelphia, Pa.; a nephew and two nieces, Alan Lindgren (Kathy) of Me mphis, Tenn., Marcela Perez-Abreu, (Dave Tersteeg) of Grand Marais, Mi nn., and Linsey Kallestad (Sage) of Manhattan, MT.; and two great-neph ews, Rio and Nico Perez-Abreu of Grand Marais. In addition to his pare nts, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Lindgren of Grea t Falls, MT.

Friends and family may gather at the viewing from 1-5 and 7-9 PM on Su nday Feb. 12 at Gorman-Scharf funeral home 1947 East Seminole Springfi eld, MO. With a special time of remembrance from 2-4 PM.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM on Monday, Feb 13 at Centra l Assembly of God Church 1301 N Boonville Ave, Springfield with Rev. R ichard Schoonover officiating at the service. Following the service re freshments will be served at University Plaza 635 E. St. Louis St. i n Springfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to Convoy of Hope (an outreach To m and Norma were active in) 330 S. Patterson in Springfield or to th e American Cancer Society .
