George T. Erickson, Senior, was born March 23, 1896 near Gibbon, Minnesota. His mother died when he was seventeen months old. His three older brothers were placed in an orphanage and raised in three foster homes within five miles of each other, but a relative, Brita Bolstad, cared for George until he was placed in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert See in Minneapolis. Mrs. See, Christina, was a sister of George's mother and raised George in her home until he was an adult. George served in the United States Army during World War I and learned the nursing profession while there. After his discharge, George worked as a nurse at the Veteran's Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. During World War II he worked at a defense plant, Northern Pump Company, in Minneapolis. George died June 15, 1956 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. |
