Leonard W. McCrea departed for his final resting place on September, 1 9, 2011 at Life Care Center in Mt. Vernon, WA, at the age of 83.

Leonard was born on February 25, 1928 at Fort Lewis, Washington to Geo rge and Pearl (Rhoades) McCrea. He grew up in a military family at For t Lewis and Tacoma, WA.

Leonard served in the US Army during the WWII/ Korean conflict and Pea cetime era from 1946 to 1951. From 1946 to 1949 he served in Germany . He was awarded the World War II Victory medal and the Army of Occupa tion medal (German). Leonard was a radioman. He was recalled to activ e duty on August 10, 1950. He served in Korea and was awarded the Arm y of Occupation Medal (Japan).

After returning home from his military service Leonard married his swe etheart and best friend's sister, Rosemarie Aucourt.

Leonard was employed by Boeing for 37 years. Being an avid lover of al l sports, he decided to take up coaching for Little League Baseball. F or the next 15 years of his life he coached Skagit State Bank's Littl e League team and was adored by all his young players.

Preceding Leonard in death were; Rosemarie Romero, children; Sheila Mc Crea, Teresa McCrea and Diana McCrea, parents; George and Pearl McCre a and his siblings; George (Sparky) McCrea, Donald McCrea and Robert M cCrea.

Leonard leaves behind his sister, Clara Ellis and niece Anna Pierce; h is children; Eileen McCrea-Wilson, Daniel McCrea, Kevin McCrea and spo use Karrie McCrea, Maureen McCrea-Johnson and spouse Gary Johnson, Mic hael McCrea and spouse Keri McCrea and two stepchildren; Nicholas Rabe los and spouse Madonna Rabelos, Cathleen Fitterer, as well as, numerou s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will follow at the Hawthorne reception room.

Leonard's family would like to thank the staff at Mountain Glen Retire ment, Ashley Gardens, Skagit Valley Hospital and Life Care Center.
