Married to Ellen B. Juel on 11-19-1930 at Broken Bow, NE.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1926 and spent a year at Fort Riley, KS. He joined the U.S. Army Reserve Corps and was on active duty from 1937 to 1946. He had assignments in Chicago; Oak Ridge, Tenn.; and Texas. He was appointed a major in the Regular Army Pharmacy Corps in July 1946, was reassigned to the Medical Services Corps in 1947 and was depot commander at the Hawaiian Medical Depot until June 1949. He served at Fitzsimons Army Hospital from June 1949 to October 1950, when he was transferred to Valley Forge Army Hospital. He was later transferred to the office of the surgeon general in Washington, D.C., where he served until his retirement as Colonel on Nov. 3, 1958.
After his retirement, he worked as a prescription druggist in Denver.
