Fay was born October 17, 1915 in Wilmot, South Dakota to Frank & Agnes Veronica (Mitchel) Marchek. Fay graduated from Lawrence High School. On October 28, 1942, she married Herschel Simmering at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska and he preceded her in death on March 16, 2001. She was a homemaker and taught piano lessons in her home for 40 years. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Altar Society and of South Center Czech Society.
