He owned & operated a butcher shop in Villard & later a grocery store. In the 1930's, he went to Chicago, Ill. to seek employment & worked for Buick Motor Company for 5 years. After returning to Villard he was employed by Megarry Construction Company. Survivors include his wife Mary; three daughters, Mrs. Oran (Marion) Anderson of Alexandria, Mrs. Norman (Marjorie) Von Filden & Mrs. Donald (Edyth) Olson, both of Minneapolis; a step-daughter, Mrs. Leslie (Fern) Jensen of Nelson; 19 grandchildren; one brother, Ted of Chicago, Ill.; and three sisters, Mrs. George (Augusta) Olfson of Grants Pass, Oregon, Mrs. Herb (Josephine) Magnuson of Chicago, Ill. & Mrs. Oscar (Anna) Vesledahl of Sioux Falls, S. D.
