Martin E. "Mike" Chamberlain, 91, of Taconite, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at Home and Comfort. He was born Oct. 13, 1916, in Clontarf, Minn., the son of Lilly and Dan Chamberlain. Martin and Amelia Pianfetti were married on Feb. 9, 1946, in Hibbing. Mike graduated from the University of Minnesota as a valedictorian with a degree in business administration. He worked for 42 years as a mine controller for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company. He was elected for 41 years of service as the clerk of Taconite. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Taconite. Mike loved being with his family, especially at the cabin, and he enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, crossword puzzles and playing cards. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Amelia, of Taconite; sons: Dennis (Dolores) of Watsonville, Calif., Paul (Rita) of Eagan, Minn., Jerome (Pam) of New Ulm, Minn., and Mark (Jane) of Bovey; daughters, Mary Ann (Bob) Jens of St. Paul, and Jean (Dennis) Jennings of Libertyville, Ill.; sisters: Kathleen, Madeline "Honey," and Shirley; a brother, Terry; grandchildren: Martin, Patrick, Matt, Staci, Michael, Jessica, Sam, Meghan, Aaron, Max and Mariel; great-grandchildren: Eleora, Michael, Savannah, Evelyn and Cody; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Gerald "Dan," Tim and Mickey; a sister, Muriel Holzemer; grandsons Bobby Jens and Jonathan Chamberlain; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Chamberlain. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Coleraine. |
