Loren D. Dahlgren, age 83, of Strandburg, SD, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at the hospital in Milbank, SD. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Tabor Lutheran Church in Strandburg. Pastor Elmer Brinkman will officiate. Music will be provided by Kathy Granquist as organist with Richard Thompson as soloist.

Visitation will take place prior to funeral services at the church on Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Burial will be at the Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery in Strandburg, SD. Military graveside honors will be provided by the VFW Post #3486, the American Legion Post #9, Stockholm/Strandburg Post #171, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #1054 and DAV Chapter #19. Honorary pallbearers will be the "coffee crew". Active pallbearers will be Dylan Johnson, Dale Johnson, Kody Johnson, Ryan Schackelford, Warren Berg and Ron Buth.

Loren was born on January 10, 1936, in Milbank, SD, to Julius and Marie (Peterson) Dahlgren. He attended Strandburg school then enlisted into the U.S. Army. During this time he served two tours in Vietnam.

In June of 1964, Loren married Sue Pauli in Manhatten, KS. To this union two children were born, Lisa and Nelson. The couple lived in Kansas and later moved back to Strandburg, SD. Loren worked various jobs in the area. On June 29, 1992, Loren married Sharon Lindberg in Strandburg.

He was a member of Tabor Lutheran Church in Strandburg, the Stockholm/Strandburg Post #171 and the American Legion Post #9. Loren enjoyed spending time with his coffee crew in the local cafes. In his earlier years he liked to trap, hunt and fish. He enjoyed driving around the country side checking on the crops and cattle and occasional trips down to the Labolt Dam.

Loren is survived by his wife, Sharon of Strandburg; his children, Lisa (Johnson) Joi of Strandburg, and Nelson Dahlgren of Watertown; three grandchildren: Kristi Johnson, Kody Johnson and Dylan Johnson; five great-grandchildren: Devin, Shelbi, Karter, Jagger and Carsen; his sisters, Audrey Ehnes of Denver, CO, and Joyce (Richard) Schultz of Ortonville, MN; and his sister-in-law, Judy Dahlgren of Spearfish, SD.

Loren was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Ted; and one sister, Karen Konstant.

The Milbank Flower Shoppe is in charge of floral arrangements.
