Martha Ann Rooney was the daughter of James and Annie (Egan) Rooney. Martha grew up on the family farm by Padua and then went on to school to be a teacher. She taught north of Brooten before marrying John Peter Jung (pronounced Joung) on June 28, 1905. Lavina Rooney (Marth's sister) and Peter Jung witnessed the wedding, this taken from the church records.

After their marriage John and Martha moved to Kenmare, ND and homesteaded there. After a few years, John and Martha returned to the Sauk Centre area, and continued farming.

John and Martha had three children:
Ethel Young - married Franklin Halverson and had four children
Kenneth Young - married Jean Kittleson and had two children
Dorothy Young - married John Rosenberger, and is living in St. Cloud

Martha and children lived with her parents and helped with the care of her mother, who had heart trouble. In 1919, after the death of her mother, they moved to Brooten with her father and there she worked as the Brooten telephone operator for several years. She then moved to Belgrade and lived there until her death.

Martha died of cancer and is buried in Padua by her brother George, and parents James and Annie Rooney. John is buried in Sauk Centre.
