Originally published August 1998, Padua Cemetery, by Ginny Walz Borgerding Henry D. Egan came to the Padua area on the New York orphan train. He was adopted by Dennis and Mary (Rooney) Egan. Elizabeth Kinney was born February 18, 1891, at Swanville, the daughter of Nicholus and Lucy Kinney. Henry married Elizabeth on October 2, 1917 at Padua. They farmed in Padua until 1941. Henry and Elizabeth had two children: Wallace - died in 1990 of a heart attack Edmond - was shot in the stomach at basic training and died seven years later Henry died January 16, 1936 from heart disease. In 1941 Elizabeth moved to Sauk Centre. She died on August 31, 1955 suddenly at her home. Henry and Elizabeth are buried by Henry's parents, Dennis and Mary Egan. His sister, Lavinia Egan, is also buried in Padua. |
