Robert "Bob" Pfeninger, age 85, died Saturday, October 4, 2008, at th e Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. A Mass of Christian burial wil l be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at St. Bartholomew' s Catholic Church in Villard. Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. Tues day, October 7th at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood, wit h a rosary at 5:00 P.M. and Parish Prayers at 7:30 P.M. Visitation wil l continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. A rrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. Robert R. Pfeninger was born on a farm in Leven Township, the fifth ch ild of Alfred and Katherine (Killeen) Pfeninger on February 16, 1923 . He grew up around and attended school in Villard. On September 5, 19 55, Bob was united in marriage to AnnaMae Kleinschmidt. This marriag e was blessed with three sons. Bob farmed with his dad until the farm was sold in 1948 and it was the n that he and his brother, Harold bought the trucking business from Ru dy Massman. Harold sold his share of the business in 1979, to Bob's so n Tom and the business continued until Bob sold his share to his son J im, in 1988. Bob was an ambitious worker and helpful to all who neede d assistance. He served for many years on the Villard City Council. H e enjoyed dancing and playing cards with friends and neighbors. He wil l be remembered for his happy disposition - always kidding everyone. Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, AnnaMae Pfeninger of Villard ; sons, Tom (Jan) Pfeninger, Jim (Sheila) Pfeninger both of Villard an d Michael (Pam) of Cold Spring; seven grandchildren, Sara, Patrick, Le anne, Alicia, Tony, Eric, and Sam Pfeninger; three sisters, Kathryn Os endorf of Long Beach, CA, June Hinnenkamp of Melrose, and Lois Wenne r of St. Cloud; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is pr eceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Katherine Pfeninger; siste r Blanche Osendorf; and brother, Harold Pfeninger. In Lieu of flower s memorials are preferred. |
