KATHLEEN IRENE DINKEL

Kathleen Irene Dinkel, 82, of Duluth, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2016, in St. Eligius Health Center following health issues with heart and kidney disease.

Kathleen Irene, the daughter of Mary Bridgett (Raden) and William Robert Rooney, was born March 2, 1934 in Ladysmith, Wis.

She married Frederick William Dinkel on Feb. 13, 1962 in Duluth.

Kathleen was a former member of St. John's Church, Woodland, and current member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Proctor, where she was an active member who enjoyed playing piano for services. She was a homemaker and foster mother.

She loved playing her piano, listening to music on her Bose radio and playing cards with her best friend Rayanne Swanson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; brothers-in-law, William Engels and Francis Dinkel; and by her sister, Mary Ellen Nelson.

Kathleen is survived by her two sons, William R. Carleton (Judy McPherson) of Rochester, Minn., and William F. (Joyce) Melchert-Dinkel of Faribault, Minn; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Anne Engels of Duluth; brother-in-law, Leonard Nelson of Otsego, Minn,; sister-in-law, Agnes Dinkel of Duluth; and many nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2016 in Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation continues on Monday, June 6, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Rose Catholic Church, 3 6th Ave., Proctor. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Woodland. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, 727-3555.
