GLENWOOD - (formerly of Brooten) Alice Gannon, age 97, died Sunday, October 21, 2007, at Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 27, 2007, at All Saint's Chapel in Glenwood Retirement Village, with Chaplain James Gronewold officiating. Visitation will be at the Chapel one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. Donatus Catholic Cemetery in Brooten. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. Alice Fiddler was born in Ogema, WI, on February 25, 1910, to John and August (Biel) Fiddler. When Alice was 10 years of age her family moved to Belgrade, MN, where she attended country school. On May 11, 1937, she was united in marriage to Raymond Gannon at St. Donatus Catholic Church, in Brooten, MN. and together they were members of that church. The couple farmed near Brooten until Ray's death in 1967. Alice also worked as a nursing assistant at Glenwood Retirement Village for 10 years. She enjoyed rug weaving and gardening. She was also very well-traveled, having visited Germany, Ireland, Scotland, England, Norway and Hawaii. Alice was a quiet, peaceful and hardworking lady who always kept herself busy. At the nursing home the past several years, you could always find her putting jigsaw puzzles together or watching birds in the aviary. Alice is survived by 3 nieces, Eleanor Bratsch, Florence Miller, and Donna Harms; 3 nephews, Bernie Kirckof, Roger Kirckof and Thomas Kirckof; great-nephew, Steven Kirckof; and several other great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; 2 brothers, Raymond Fiddler and Francis Fiddler; and 1 sister, Mary Kirckof. |
