John (Jack) Launceford
John (Jack) Edward Launceford went to heaven peacefully on February 27 , 2009.
He was born on March 1, 1920 in Minneapolis, MN to Earl and Mabel Launceford, their first-born of four children. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. He served in the US Coast Guard during World War II, stationed in Greenland. He graduated from Seattle University with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. Working for the Washington State DOT for 27 years, he served as the Project Engineer for the construction of many of Washington State's major roads and freeway interchanges.
Jack married Dianne O'Neil on August 3, 1957 and moved to Edmonds, WA where they have lived for the past 49 years, and raised their four children.
Beyond devotion to his family, Jack was an avid salmon fisherman, sports fan, and enjoyed working around his home and yard.
He is survived by Dianne, his wife of 51 years; children, Lori (Glenn) Stockton, of Bremerton, WA, John (Karen) Launceford, of Edmonds, Julie Launceford, of Lake Stevens, WA, and Leslie (Brad) Wolgamott, of North Bend, WA; twelve grandchildren; one expected great-grandchild; sister, Jean; brother, Earl; and sister, Leola; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 630 7th Ave N, Edmonds, WA.
