Aloys "Al" T. Holzemer, 78, of Taconite, died Wednesday, June 25, 1997, in Leisure Hills Health Care Center, Grand Rapids. He was born on Nov. 10, 1918, in Vermillion, Minn., to John M. and Adeline M. (Schanno) Holzemer. He attended school in Vermillion and was a Taconite resident since 1952. He was custodian for Greenway School District 316 retiring in 1976. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the American Legion, both in Taconite. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Muriel (Chamberlain) Holzemer. He is survived by wife LaVerne; two daughters, Sandy Mattice of Maple Grove, Minn., and Patricia (Marvin) York of Deephaven, Minn.; son Richad Holzemer of Marble; four stepsons, Vern (Sherry) Nelson of Taconite, Dan (Donna) Nelson of Cannon Falls, Minn., Dwight (Sharon) Nelson of Calumet, and Richard Nelson of Fargo, N.S.; three stepdaughters, Diane Lafond of Taconite, Kathy (Bill) Bryan of Stafford, Va., and Peggy Nelson of Taconite; 29 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother Andrew Holzemer of Onamia, Minn.; two sisters, Viola Doffing of St. Paul and Marcella Moharics of White Bear Lake, Minn.; aunt Julia Holzemer of St. Paul; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation: Today, 6-8 p.m. in Peterson Funeral Chapel, Coleraine, with parish prayers at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The Rev. Father Paul J.
