Ralph "Mickey" Everett Rooney Rooney, Ralph "Mickey" has entered the gates of heaven with a resounding "hip hip hoorah". We are sure he is chanting "who is the greatest of them all!" It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Ralph "Mickey" Rooney, our beloved father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather, brother and friend to everyone who came into his presence. Mickey passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 2nd 2022 at 93 years young. Mickey's love for God, his family and community shone brightly in the lives he touched and the joy he brought to this world needs to be continued on in the hearts of everyone he encountered. Mickey was the most kind and generous person and those that had the pleasure to call him friend know how devastating this loss is to the world. Mickey had many loves, including playing Santa, a good cribbage game, being a successful real estate agent, gardening-especially his tomato plants, visiting those in need and volunteering in many capacities, but no greater love than his beautiful and devoted wife Margaret "Peggy" (McCollow ) Rooney, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. Peggy and Mickey had an open house for anyone to stop in who wanted to have some fun, share in fellowship, play some cards or just talk about life. Mickey is survived by his wife, Peggy; seven children, Cheryl, Suzette, Ann, Mary, Elizabeth, Ralph, Theresa; 19 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; his sisters, Jan and Elaine; and brother, Harold. Mickey was from a family of 12 children who grew up in St. Cloud during the depression. Dad had a zeal for life. Bringing JOY was his life purpose! The twinkle in his eye as Santa for 60 years was one of his most precious gift to many. Being able to spread that love to people everywhere! Mickey founded the "Nuns Snow Days" and supported the continuation thru Knights of Columbus, which he was a member for many years. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War. Mickey was so proud of the many awards he received, especially The Million Dollar Club in real estate and the Humanitarian of the Year. In lieu of donations we ask you to perform a random act of kindness in Mickey's honor. |
