From the Faribault Daily News: Funeral services for James C. Mitchell, 65, of Forest Township, were held at the Immaculate Conception Church on Tuesday, October 7, with the Very Rev. John P. Foley officiating. Burial was made at Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Mitchell passed away Friday, October 3, at St. Lucas Hospital. Pallbearers were William Dillon, Bernard Becker, John Ryan, Joseph Meyer, George Ryan, and Thomas Mitchell. James C. Mitchell was born at Brooten August 15, 1887, son of Dennis and Nora Mitchell. He graduated from Glenwood Academy and taught school in Dakota and Montana. He served for a time as editor of the Sumatra Record at Sumatra, Montana, and served in the United States Marines during World War I. Mr. Mitchell attended the Minnesota College of Law in St. Paul, from which he graduated in 1923. He also attended the University of Minnesota and McPhail School of Music. He practiced law at Brooten for several years, in Minneapolis for 10 years, and in the Faribault area for 19 years. The deceased was married to Isabel O'Grady on October 6, 1925. Surviving, in addition to Mrs. Mitchell, are two sons, James C. of Faribault and John in the U S. Army. Mr. Mitchell was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church for many years. He was also a member of the Minnesota Bar Association, the American Legion, and Knights of Columbus. Relatives and friends attended the services from Brooten, Belgrade, Minneapolis and Rochester. |
