The 1900 census states that Ben's birth was in April 1889. His WWI draft registration card and the California death index both say his birth date was 31 January 1889. In the 1920 census he is with his brother Leo and Leo's family in South Dakota. In the 1940 census he is working for the Civilian Conservation Corps in Lawrence, South Dakota. He appears not to have married.
