Shared note

George had lived at St Otto's Home, Little Falls, MN for 12 years preceding his death. This home started as an orphanage in 1900 and a place for children whose parents could not care for them. George was retired and had been a custodian for a Minneapolis electrical company.

George Rooney was the son of James and Annie (Egan) Rooney. George grew up on the family farm by Padua and then went to Minneapolis to school to be a railroad conductor. After the death of his mother, George came back to help on the farm. His father sold him 120 acres of the homestead, which George farmed until 1919. In 1919 George sold his land, and his father sold the family farm. George returned to Minneapolis to work for the Minneapolis Railway.

In the 1920's George and his father got their farms back. George returned again to Padua to farm his land. He constructed a house on the land, and lived there until developing diabetes. George then moved to St Otto home in Little Falls for the remainder of his life.

The Padua Pub today is located on the land owned by George Rooney.

George Rooney is buried beside his sister Martha and by his parents. His grandparents John and May Rooney, and sisters Marvel and Emily Rooney are also buried in Padua.
